Retreat Refund Policy
Cancellations before July 31, 2024, will receive a 50% refund on workshops.
Cancellations between July 31, 2024, and August 31, 2024, will receive a 25% refund on workshops.
The registration fee is non-refundable. There are no refunds after August 31, 2024.

Meet the Instructor - Ruth Ann Berry

Ruth Ann is the author of "Bargello Quilts in Motion", C & T Publishing 2014, "Braided Bargello", C & T Publishing 2017, "Simplified 3D Quilts", self-published 2018, "Stunning 3D Quilts Simplified", C & T Publishing 2020, "3D Illusion Quilts", C & T Publishing 2024, and over 50 quilt patterns available at major distributors.  She also designs patterns for fabric companies Northcott and Jaftex.  She owns and operates a small-town quilt store and online business, the "Quilter's Clinic", and travels extensively to exhibit and teach at guilds and festivals.  Visit her website:  www.quiltersclinic.com 

Workshop Descriptions 

Kit options are listed on the registration form with their price for your information, but are payable to the instructor at class.  Please specify your kit choice on the form.  If you would like to use your own fabric, you MUST purchase the pattern and/or book from Ruth Ann's website by September 1st and have all fabric cut prior to class.  

Kits for the Bargello and 3D workshops are the same color as shown but there will also be some alternate color options.  

Class supplies:  Sewing machine, scissors, seam ripper, pins, marking pencil, neutral thread for piecing.
For the 3D class, you will also need a 60 degree ruler.

Bargello Workshop
Thursday, October 10, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Create the illusion of curves, motion and depth with strip piecing and straight seams.  We'll build strip sets, then using a picture chart for reference, cut across them to gather slices to be sewn into columns and sew the columns togehter.  There are three patterns to choose from.  (See pictures in brochure)

3D Workshop
Friday, October 11, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

This workshop is filled. Ask to be added to the waiting list.

Create the illusion of depth with vertical rows of equilateral triangles and no "Y" seams.  Use color and value instead of complicated piecing to give the impression of 3D.  We'll learn the tips and tricks for organizing and streamlining the process, including getting all the pieces correctly oriented and the points matched.   We'll create something that looks complicated without the hard work.  We'll also explore the option to create the same illusion using long strips with 60 degree angle cuts.  Learn an updated piecing process that employs a triangle replacement template and avoids most of the small triangle pieces.  There are three patterns to choose from.  (See pictures in brochure)

Panel Play
Saturday, October 12, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

The book "Panel Power", six easy layouts for panels and their coordinating collections, will be used to show you how to use any panel and turn it into a wonderful quilt.  There are four panel options.  (See pictures in brochure)

SOYO (Sew On Your Own) is offered Thursday, October 10 - Saturday, October 12.

Meals and Lodging

A Sandwich and Salad Bar, which includes salad, house made chips, fresh fruit, cookies, and sandwich options, is available each day for $20 per day.  These are listed at the bottom of the registration form.  The deadline for adding lunches is Sept. 10, 2024.

The Hilton Garden Inn offers casual dining for breakfast and dinner at the Garden Grill and Bar.  Rooms are available through the hotel.  Prices vary.

No outside food or beverages are allowed.

We are always looking for new instructors offering techniques that provide a variety of interest for our guild. If you would like to teach a class, please submit your application online OR download and print the form, fill it out and mail it to us.
