Ilene Bartos, Ilene Bartos Designs
Ilene has been working with fiber arts and quilting for almost twenty years, designing both traditional and art quilts. Her works have hung in galleries and shows and have won various awards and ribbons. She enjoys being a speaker for guilds and sharing her quilts through trunk shows. Ilene has published two books, “Maple Leaf Quilts” and “Spectacular Rectangles,” and has a line of patterns and kits. She lives in Urbandale, Iowa, and has been married to her husband, Ron, for almost 40 years. They have three grown children and three grandchildren, who are delightful and the joy of their hearts. Life is a journey and color can be used to express all of the feelings and emotions that we experience along the way. Once I discovered the joy of using fabrics and fibers for my color palette, I was off and running. I enjoy working with abstract designs and graphic lines and shapes. How the colors play together and the feelings they evoke is more important to me than replicating the look of the actual object or place. Traditional quilting plays an important role in my life as many of the traditional block designs are very graphic and work well to express emotions through color. One of my sources of inspiration is nature, and I am especially fond of trees and leaves. As my quilting journey continues, I look forward to discovering a wealth of new techniques and design possibilities to implement into my work. Come along and journey with me for a while.
