January's chilly weather invites us to settle in and accomplish great new (and old) quilts at our annual winter SOYO (sew-on-your-own) Retreat. It is always fun to see what all of us are up to. Gather your pins, rulers, scissors, fabric and machine and join us for a weekend of fun.
We will again have our SOYO at the Courtyard by Marriott. Take Elk Vale Road to South I-90 Service Road and go east. Turn right on Watiki Way.
The SOYO begins at 8:00 AM on Thursday, January 16, and ends at Noon on Sunday, Janaury 19.
Registration is now open
Registration for the Winter SOYO has started with both online and paper registration options. It is open to Guild Members ONLY during November. If you are not a member or have not paid your current dues and wish to attend SOYO, you MUST have your dues paid prior to registration. If you register and are not up to date on your membership, your registration will be cancelled.

Cancellation Policy: 50% refund of registration fee for cancellations before December 13; 25% refund for cancellations between December 14-31; no refund of registration fee if cancelled after December 31.
Massage
Sitting at a sewing machine so long can make your shoulders ache. A massage therapist will be available on Friday and Saturday ; $20 for 20 minutes. Sign up for a time when you check in.
Meals
Meals will not be provided at the SOYO. There are a number of restaurants near the hotel.
The Bistro at the Courtyard is open at the hours shown below.
- Breakfast: 6AM-10AM Daily
- Lunch: 11:30AM-1:30PM Monday-Friday
- Dinner: 4PM-10PM Daily
The guild will provide snacks Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 2 pm. Coffee, hot tea, and water will be available beginning at 7 am.
If you choose to bring your own food or bring in food from an area food establishment, you can eat it in the lobby.
Lodging
The Courtyard by Marriott will hold rooms with a special guild rate of $69/room plus taxes/fees on Wednesday and Thursday and $79/room plus taxes/fees on Friday and Saturday. Be sure to mention BHQG to get this discount. Contact the hotel directly to make reservations (605-791-0945). Options include one king size bed or two queen size beds.
